Sepsis Awareness
Sepsis is a serious and potentially life‑threatening response to infection. Our clinicians are trained to recognise early signs of sepsis and act quickly.
Call 999 or go to A&E if
You experience any of the following symptoms
- Mental Status Change: Extreme confusion, slurred speech, or, for children, acting lethargic or difficult to wake.
- Skin Changes: Pale, blue, mottled, grey, or blotchy skin, lips, or tongue.
- Breathing Issues: Very fast breathing or severe breathlessness.
- Temperature and Shivering: High fever or very low body temperature with intense shivering or muscle pain.
- No Urine Output: Not passing any urine for over 12 hours (or a whole day in adults).
- Severe Rash: A rash that does not fade when a glass is rolled over it.
We provide early assessment, advice, and urgent referral where needed. Trusted information and symptom guidance are also available from the NHS
We also support patients and carers with guidance on early warning signs and when to seek help. Our practice participates in training and safety processes to ensure a rapid response to possible sepsis.
